The Night Hawk Stealth SE is the latest vintage ball to be retooled for current conditions in the AMF line. The Stealth uses the aggressive F78 Solid coverstock that is finished with the NEAT E pad, which is approximately equivalent to a 1500 grit sanded finish. This strong cover and rough box finish are paired with the Power Ring symmetrical weight block that was used previously in the Night Hawk SE. The increased traction from the coverstock being both more aggressive and rougher out of the box give this ball more total hook than the Night Hawk SE. The Stealth was best for all three of our testers on our heavy oil test pattern. Cranker had the best reaction on the fresh. He loved that he could be aggressive with his release and his Stealth would just roll off the breakpoint with an even and predictable motion. This smooth arcing motion allowed him to stay in the same part of the lane for the majority of our test session on this pattern. Stroker played straighter through the track area, allowing the aggressive coverstock to hook through the oil and into the pocket. He liked his reaction and, like Cranker, didn’t have to move much on the approach once he was lined up. Tweener was stuck in the middle with his ball reaction. He saw too much early hook from the Stealth when he tried to play similar to Stroker, but he couldn’t get his ball to go through the pins correctly when he moved deeper inside. His rev rate and speed simply didn’t match up with the box finish of the Stealth on this pattern. He took his ball to the spinner and used a NEAT T pad, which is smoother than the box finish. This smoother finish improved his reaction and allowed him to play closer to where Stroker played this pattern. Our medium test pattern was not a great matchup with the Stealth’s dull box finish. All three testers experienced trouble getting this ball to maintain enough energy for the back end when they started to move left and throw it away from the pocket. Stroker and Cranker again had a better reaction than Tweener, who was experiencing the same thing he saw on our heavy pattern. All three testers added polish to their Stealths and watched them become better when they opened up their angles through the front of the lane. This polished finish got the Stealth to retain more energy and helped it to start knocking out the flat 10s that were standing with the box finish. Tweener just didn’t match up with the Stealth at the box finish on any of our patterns. On our sport pattern, he saw the same reaction of too much hook playing straight and not enough drive through the pins when he moved deeper into the oil. Cranker and Stroker had much better reactions on this pattern. The box finish allowed the Stealth to dig in hard in the midlane and roll smoothly off the end of the pattern. This reaction gave them hold on shots that missed . We had the Night Hawk Stealth SE smoother than the last SE release, the Ninja. The dull F78 Solid coverstock rounded out the motion at the breakpoint. The NEAT E pad box finish creates traction earlier than we saw from the Ninja SE and was similar to the Escape. Bowlers looking for an early and smooth ball path to the pocket will enjoy the motion provided by this new Night Hawk release. The dull box finish will tame down this ball's reaction to downlane friction. There are plenty of other AMF products that produce more skid and a bigger back end reaction when that kind of motion is needed. We saw similar total hook to the Ninja SE and less than both the Escape and Great Escape. The Ninja was a little cleaner and had a little more pop downlane, while the Stealth picks up earlier and has a more evenly-shaped motion front to back. High rev players will love the power and predictability provided by the Night Hawk Stealth SE. This ball is smooth, offering a controlled motion across various oil patterns. Our reactions got worse the more we threw this ball away from the pocket with the box finish. The longer we could stay straighter with our angles, the better our results were. The Night Hawk Stealth SE provides a smoother reaction shape than the Ninja SE and the Night Hawk SE . Great Prices! High Quality Products! Great Service!
